Clockmaker's Spring Replacer
*** SOLD ***

(circa 1850)
We expect that you have never seen one of these before, as this is the only one we have seen! Made by the Clock Spring Replacer Manufacturing Company, in Ohio. It was used before replacement clock springs were available off the shelf to make a spring for an American clock, by winding the proper amount from a large roll of spring steel. This would establish an initial bend to the spring, allowing the Clockmaker to compress it further.
